On June 1, Udell Cason, a former Des Moines school principal, and his taw kwon do student Jonathon Vizcarra did a demonstration at our PBS reward assembly for students with no detentions in May. Cason used the theme of respecting yourself, peers, parents and teachers, as he demonstrated the techniques. Students and teachers became part of the assembly as he showed self defense techniques.

Two students competed at the State Special Olympics track and field events in Ames. In the 50-meter dash, Caleb Mills received the gold medal and Montez Camp received the bronze medal. In the softball throw, Caleb received gold.
